Braiding and Layering Funding

Braiding & Layering Funding to Sustain Cross-Cutting Efforts that Benefit Multiple Programs and Funding Streams

Course Description:
Braiding and layering funding is a powerful tool that your agency can use to fund initiatives and programs across silos, ultimately sustaining health equity efforts. In this four-part module designed for local, state, and island area health agencies, you will explore key components of braiding and layering, including leadership and visioning, prioritization and communications, implementation and management, and continuous quality improvement and evaluation.

Expect to devote at least one hour to completely reviewing the material provided for this online course. This does not include the time you will spend completing the activities, which can be done online or at your own pace outside of the eLearning Center. Keep in mind that while you can do this module individually, the tools and activities are intended for cross-collaboration and decision-making with your braiding and layering team.

Intended Audience: Local, state, and island area health agencies. “Island Areas” collectively refers to the five U.S. territories and three sovereign nations that have entered into Compacts of Free Association with the United States.
